Note MeWell, it's almost the new year and I just felt that a journal was in order. *shrug*
It's really fun to go back and look at the progress I've made over the years. dA has helped me to keep a chronological documentation of my steadily increasing knowledge and application of art skills, and has also served as wonderful inspiration via the constant stream of new art added and old art archived. Not only is it cool that I've been able to access all of this wonderful art and add my own to the mix, I've utilized this place as a hub to connect to others.
All in all, dA is the longest website that I've ever remained a member of, closely followed by Gaia Online and facebook, of course.

Seven Years!!
If you haven't, I encourage you to go back and look at what you first posted on this website and compare to what you submit now. Whether you've been a member for seven years, seven months, or even seven days, you'll be surprised what the exposure to other artists can do for your work.
By observing other extraordinary talents and techniques, I've grown as an artist, a critic, and a person. I can analyse my own art without feeling overprotective or defensive. I can observe the strengths and weaknesses of other deviations without being a troll or a flamer. And, I can appreciate almost every single submission that hits this website.
I never imagined that I would feel confident enough in my work to start my own portfolio, charge for commissions, and have a request list as long as my arm... that other people would seek out my art and enjoy the results. By using dA as a place to study others and garner feedback, I was able to develop the skills necessary to do so.
I suppose what I'm trying to say is... thank you, dA. You've helped me grow from a notice girl into an educated woman.
Let's press on for seven more years... and hopefully many more after that!!
